The mission of Bridges in Communities is to provide a healthy, drug-free, safe and secure environment within which we will provide treatment and education services that focus on changing addictive and criminal behaviors.  We provide our participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a productive life-style prior to reintegration into their communities.

Services

BIC offers an alternative to incarceration program that is designed to address the needs of the courts by engaging low-risk offenders that are placed in either pre-trial status or post conviction. BIC’s Intensive Home Incarceration Supervision Program (IHISP) is a unique program that allows offenders the ability to remain in the community while receiving close supervision and monitoring. BIC’s IHISP address the needs of the courts by engaging low-risk offenders that are placed in either pretrial status or post conviction. This is made possible through our state of the art global position satellite tracking (GPS) services that provides precise tracking an identification of the offender’s movements.

While current systems only tell you that the offender is in or out of zone, our GPS system informs us of exact geographical locations. Thus, our system allows us the ability to account for the time and place allowed to the participant to be out of the home e.g., work, school, doctor visits, etc, rather than assume the offender will be in their respective places.

More than just Tracking

Here at BIC we are aware that even the highest level of tracking does not prevent present or future offenses, as such, or goal is to treat the entire person, utilizing all possible resources to treat the problem and not the symptoms. To ensure complete compliance of conditions as set by the court, all participants enrolled in the program will receive the following services:

  • Random Drug Test
  • Daily Phone Calls
  • Random Home / Job visits
  • 24 hour crisis emergency intervention
  • Weekly progress reports to Judges and Officers
  • Immediate violation reporting
  • Flexible office hours available

What does Bridges GPS Technology consist of?

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a sophisticated tracking method that operates via a network of low-orbit satellites. These satellites use radio signals in concert with a cellular telephone and an ankle bracelet to pinpoint the targeted individual’s position within 50 feet. The participant must wear an ankle bracelet (which is not removable once affixed) and must carry a receiver box, about the size of a cell phone. A GPS receiver is located inside the box and uses the cell phone to call location information into the monitoring station. This cell phone/satellite technology does not require a telephone line and the participant is therefore free to find and maintain gainful employment.

Any location that the participant has been ordered to stay away from may be programmed into the system. A computerized map located at the monitoring station sets off a warning signal if the participant gets too close to a banned area, or if the participant moves away from an area, or if the participant moves away from an area in which he/she should remain. GPS places responsibility for appropriate behavior with the participant, but provides 24-hour monitoring to ensure compliance.
