The mission of Bridges in Communities is to provide a healthy, drug-free, safe and secure environment within which we will provide treatment and education services that focus on changing addictive and criminal behaviors. We provide our participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a productive life-style prior to reintegration into their communities.
Bridges In Communities is a Lexington based agency that has been in existence for the last five years providing quality services to both the correctional population and community institutions. BIC’s program which provides alternatives to secure detention encompasses a holistic approach to community corrections as the treatment philosophy embraces a systemic method of providing multiple levels of services and resources that are designed to reduce the rate of offending. Our approach utilizes the advantages of cutting edge electronic monitoring while maximizing the power of traditional counseling treatment when provided the opportunity. Although we are confident in our system of electronic monitoring, it is our belief that treatment in conjunction with other community support creates the greatest opportunity for individual progressive change.
BIC offers several programs and services that are designed to meet and exceed the many complex needs of offenders. Such programs are proven and practically driven with the pathology and understanding of the criminal mind that guides and directs irrational thinking.
The fundamental difference between BIC and other treatment agencies is within our mission and theoretical existence. Unlike other agencies that provide all types of services to communities, BIC only provides and specializes in home incarceration treatment services to the correctional population.
Over the past year, BIC has had the opportunity to serve the entire state of Kentucky by providing an assortment of services including i.e., mental health assessments, individual counseling, drug screens, and home incarceration electronic monitoring. BIC has served over 1000 offenders over the past 2007-2008. Participants that have completed the program represented a diverse group of offenders with charges ranging from dui to domestic violence. The average length of services for participants is 4 months, with the longest participant being monitored over a12 month period.
